Objectives and action plans for attractive and sustainable urban territories

Objectives

  • Imagine and develop with the ICT new local ecosystems (activities, services, a relocated circular economy) that are innovative and carbon effective
  • Create venues and places for networking and connected innovative activities (co-working and development of telecommuting)
  • Work on free and sustainable mobility
  • Focus on the issue of work-to-home transport

Action plans

  • Pool resources, expertise and results among the various stakeholders and animate communities bringing together local authorities, companies, association leaders, researchers, educators and artists...
  • Inform city dwellers and encourage participation in sustainable development campaigns
  • Provide training to be a green and connected city
  • Offer education and training for sustainable development and the new economy while avoiding the creation of new social, economic and digital divides
  • Contribute to and coordinate programs for the deployment of intelligent and sustainable buildings (technologies, practices and behaviors)

Ecocentres 2.0 : the first project of the Cluster

Ecocentres 2.0 is the first operational project initiated by the Cluster . These are new features and urban locations, in the city or the suburbs, for sharing and providing training in e-business, public and recreational online facilities.

More than a teleworking place that pools resouces, this should allow to share and play in a sustainable way, especially since they reduce the work-to-home transport.

At least 5 Ecocentre 2.0 experiments have to be launched in different Euro-Mediterranean cities. To carry out this project, 6 working groups were created :

  • Construction/ITC
  • Access/Mobility
  • Utilisation and Behavior
  • Social Inno-vations
  • Impact/Indicators
  • Business Models

Each working group is led in pairs : city - company.

The Workshop Green & Connected Cities, 8 and 9 July in Bordeaux has allowed groups to start and to work together and in parallel.

The writing of scripts, specifications and comprehensive monitoring indicators of the first experiments appear in early 2010

Study on telecentres around the world

To get a clear picture of different types of services and structures that may be related in one way or another to a Ecocentre 2.0, a study was launched to list the telecentres, smart work centres, telecottages and those kinds of institutions that already exist. The results of this study will be presented partly in Strasbourg, and details will be available in February 2010.
